Where are you from and how does that influence your talent?
I’m originally from Queens, but I moved to Long Island right before starting high school. That transition was tough—I was shy, moved around a lot, and didn’t have many friends. But through all of that, beauty and art became my safe space. They were always healing, empowering, and fun for me. That connection to creativity during a challenging time really shaped my talent. It’s why I’m so passionate about helping others feel confident and seen—because I know what it feels like to need that light.

What feature are you most excited to explore on SPOTLIST?
I’m most excited about the exposure and networking potential. SPOTLIST gives beauty professionals like me a platform to be discovered by new clients outside of our immediate circle—which is so important, especially for growing artists. I love that it highlights real talent and allows us to showcase our work in a clean, professional space. I’m also really excited about connecting with other artists and possibly collaborating or learning from each other. Being part of a platform that celebrates diverse beauty pros feels like the kind of community we all need right now. Plus, for someone like me who’s passionate about building a luxe brand, it’s a great way to reach high-end clientele who value quality and connection.

What’s your proudest moment in cosmetology?
Graduating with honors from the New York Institute of Beauty to obtain my credentials in esthetics while balancing motherhood, school, and trying to start a business is hands down one of my proudest moments. It wasn’t and still isn’t easy, but it reminds me that I’m capable of so much more than I give myself credit for.

What’s your most memorable experience as a cosmetologist?
Working backstage at Fashion Week was surreal! The energy, the chaos, the creativity—it was everything I imagined and more. Being part of something that big reminded me of how far I’ve come and how limitless this industry really is!

Why did you choose cosmetology?
Because beauty changed my life. During some of the hardest times, it gave me joy, confidence, and a way to express myself. I wanted to give that feeling to others—to help people look and feel like the best version of themselves. I choose esthetics so that I can become proficient & knowledgeable In skin, Especially since when it comes to make up, taking care of your skin is the best foundation you can have.

How did you get started?
My journey started in healthcare as a nursing assistant, then as a lead phlebotomist in the lab. But beauty was always calling me. I started taking classes And received certifications in Permanent makeup for brows. Shortly after i obtained my manicurist license for nails. I asked myself why stop? and eventually enrolled in esthetics school. In small steps I’ve been working on building my dream brand/ buisness…. Xtina Beauty Spa. I envision having a business that could be a one stop shop in Beauty!

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Stop doubting yourself. Your voice, your dreams, your passion—it all matters. Keep showing up, even when it feels hard, and never let fear make your decisions for you.

What advice would you give to someone currently in your shoes?
Trust the process. Focus on growing little by little every day. You don’t have to have it all figured out to make progress. And never forget—your energy is your brand, so protect it.

What’s something you wish you had the resources to do right now in your career?
I’d love to have my own professional studio space—somewhere I can service clients, film content, host workshops, and really bring my brand to life. A place that feels like luxury and healing all in one.

Why do you think clients choose you—your skill, personality, or both?
Definitely both. I pour my heart into every service, and clients can feel that. It’s not just about makeup or skincare—it’s about how I make them feel. People remember how you made them feel more than anything.

What’s your favorite service to provide?
Makeup, hands down. It’s a creative release for me—and I love seeing the transformation not just on the outside, but in how clients carry themselves after.
